One of my personal goals when I set out to become more frugal was to increase my giving to God’s Kingdom, and others in need.
For the past 5 years, I have been involved in MOPS. This year in particular was rather different. I am always intrigued to see who ends up at my table (usually 8-10 Moms), and how God wants to use me in their lives.
I had the pleasure of being placed at a table with Jennifer, whom I had never met. Coincidentally, we grew up only 2 towns away from each other in Orange County, CA. We immediately had some common ground and stories to share about how we ended up in North Texas, of all places!
A few months ago, Jennifer was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She is a 33-year old wife and mother of 3 small children, and is currently undergoing Chemotherapy treatment. Our MOPS group has been praying for her, and providing meals during this difficult time.
God placed another opportunity to help Jennifer and others in a big way right in my lap. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training® is the world’s largest endurance sports training program. The program provides training to run or walk marathons and half marathons or participate in triathlons and century (100-mile) bike rides.
A family friend of Jennifer’s, Sally, is participating in the San Diego Rock ‘N Roll Marathon (26.2 miles) on June 1st, in her honor. In the process, Sally plans to raise at least $10,000 to help eradicate leukemia, Hodgkin’s disease, and lymphoma.
You can help sponsor Sally’s efforts by making a tax-deductible donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. No contribution is too small…every little bit helps the cause!

Speaking of goals, Sally sounds amazing! A marathon AND raising $10,000.
I gave a donation.
I will keep Jennifer in my prayers. Is her family in the OC?
