Homemade Flower Girl Basket

Weddings can certainly be a budget buster. One way to save is by getting crafty and making your own supplies. A homemade flower girl basket is quite simple, and frugal!

My husband’s brother recently got married. I offered to help my future sister-in-law with the 4 flower girl baskets needed for the wedding. I designed a flower girl basket for my own wedding in 2004, so I was excited about the opportunity to contribute something special to Ashley’s.

My goal was a beautiful, one of a kind basket that would not break the budget. Baskets at David’s Bridal can set you back up to 50 bucks.

So, I started at Hobby Lobby and picked up these Easter Baskets:

I added a whole lotta spray paint, some pretty ribbons, and silk flowers attached with a glue gun.

The royal blue flowers complimented colors in the wedding. A satin pillow on the bottom completed the look.

Here is the result:

The funny thing is, I am not a crafty person whatsoever. The cost for supplies was roughly $10 per basket. The Bride was thrilled with the outcome, and they looked lovely in my daughters’ hands!

With a little creativity, you can save money on wedding expenses by making your own accessories. A can of spray paint can work wonders!

I wish you had wrote this post up a month ago. They really are expensive to buy and we had to buy two so this would have saved a ton when my sister got married. Your turned out so lovely.
