Notes From CVS

Each trip to CVS brings new knowledge. Here are a few tidbits I felt like sharing.

Most importantly, I am pleased to report that Leah, my 2-year old, is making great progress in the potty training department. Just yesterday, she successfully utilized a public restroom for the very first time. At CVS, of course. One of my proudest mommy moments.

My Mom, a school teacher, has caught the CVS fever too. She gives me regular updates on the CVS’s of the OC. See, not every woman in Orange County, CA lives like this:

Anywho, since she happens to live in a rather upscale area, she never seems have any trouble finding all the best deals. “Out of stock” is never a problem. I plan to do some serious CVSing with Mom and Sis’ when I visit this August.

So… what it is like playing the CVS game in Laguna Beach? Well, for one, the cashiers are super impressed when she whips out all her coupons. They ooh and aahh over her low total, and even call over other employees to show it off. Too funny. My cashiers are rarely surprised by my typical under a dollar OOP.

During our last CVS update over the phone, my Mom reported that her CVS had tied helium balloons to every item in the store that generates ECBs. What a clever idea! They must really want customers to take advantage of those deals. Have you seen this technique yet at your store? This would make shopping go much faster. Then again, it would increase the competition.

In other CVS news, I was thrilled to see that my CVS had updated their old price check scanner with the newer, “magic coupon machine” scanner. It has a new home too, right in front! My favorite cashier pointed it out to me and said that all of the area CVS stores had recently done the same. This is great news! So, next time you are in CVS, look for this nifty red scanner. Swipe your Extra Care card under it, and out pops some free coupons! Yippee! I got 4 in a row the other day.

Lastly, if you need a $0.99 filler this week, I highly recommend the June CVS “Reinventing Beauty” magazine found at the counter. There is a lovely booklet of coupons right inside!

Don’t forget, the Beacon Journal $3/$15 coupon expires on the 14th, so be sure to use it while you can!

I went last night. I picked up the ECB booklet upon walking in and bought some things that were in it. It was in the middle of a severe thunderstorm and the lights went out. Ever have that CVS experience?
