Welcome back to The CVS $5 Challenge! Thank you to everyone who participated last week. There were 10. Since I am a goal setter, let’s make it 15 this week! Show me the money!

If you are a first time visitor, here’s the lowdown:

Join me on Sundays as I host The $5.00 CVS Challenge!

Seasoned CVSers: share your best scenario(s) for the upcoming week at CVS.

Your budget: $5.00 out-of-pocket cash.

Your mission: to grow that $5.00 into even more ECBs to use in upcoming weeks.

Simply post about it on your blog, then drop by Keeping the Kingdom First and add your permalink and store destination to the Mr. Linky box.

Now, because of the new $3/$15 coupon, I am bending the rules a bit this week. Should you choose to include this wonderful coupon in your scenarios, your new goal is as close to $5.00 OOP as possible. This may be tricky, but I can’t wait to see what y’all come up with!

*RULES*

1. Come up with your best scenario/scenarios for the upcoming week at CVS using the current weekly ad, monthly deals, and coupons available. Your budget for Out of Pocket (OOP) expenses on the first transaction is only $5.00 (either cash OOP or ECBs on hand).

2. Using up to (3) scenarios (we don’t want to overwhelm the newbies with too many transactions), offer up your best scenarios to “grow” that $5.00 into more ECBs to use in following weeks.

3. If you want to divide your $5.00 allowance over the three scenarios to make them work, that’s fine!

4. Be sure to list coupons by inserts and/or with links to printables to make it easier for everyone to follow along.

Tip for the newbies: when using a $/$$ coupon, plan your total so that it is just over $15 including tax. Make sure you hand over that coupon FIRST, followed by all your manufacturers coupons, and lastly, ECB’s if you have them.

Here are MY scenarios, one of each:

Transaction #1
Buy 1 Bayer Aspirin with Heart Advantage 30 ct @ $4.99
Buy 2 CVS Pantliners 22ct @ $0.99 ea.

Use this $2.50 printable for Bayer

Total after coupon: $4.47
ECB’s earned= $2, $1.98

Transaction #2
Buy 1 6″x8″ photo book at the digital kiosk @ $7.99
Buy 1 Neutrogena Healthy Volume mascara @ $5.99
Buy 2 Sally Hansen Hard as nails @ $0.99 ea.

Use $3/$15 coupon
-$3.oo Kodak coupon from 6/8 SS insert
-$1.00 Neutrogena coupon (register here)
-$3.oo/2 Sally Hansen coupon here

Pay with $2, $1.98 ECB from first transaction.

Total after all coupons= $1.98
ECBs earned= $7.99, $4.00

Grand Total OOP= $6.45

Net profit= $5.54!!

*************************************************

There you have it! A new way to play the CVS ECB game by helping newbies learn the ropes. And who knows – you just might be inspired yourself by some of the deals you find, too!

Have a $5.00 CVS Challenge scenario you’d like to share? Post it at your blog, then add your post’s permalink below. Please link directly to your post and link back to Keeping the Kingdom First, too. Thanks!

Don’t have a blog? You can leave a comment with your scenario, too. I invite everyone to participate in The $5.00 CVS Challenge – no deal is too small, believe me!

You are doing great!! I check this everyday! I went to CVS yesterday and here’s what I did:
    2-airwick mini 9.98
    3-sallyh nail polish 2.97
    2-evian water(1 liter) 1.99 bogo
    1-cvs makeup cloth 2.99
    17.93
    used following q’s:
    3/15 q
    2.00 off skin care
    1.00 off water
    3.00 off 2 nail polish
    2/4.00 off airwick minis
total=.93 (used 1 ecb) then I had to pay tax out of my pocket. They would not let me use ecb’s for tax!! First time that happened to me! But I received one more ecb and a q for a free hand sanitizer spray.
    So…how did I do??

Heather! Thanks for stopping by! I think you did really great. I always strive to either grow my ECB’s or break even on every transaction, which you did.

I got that same free hand sanitizer coupon. Cool freebie, perfect for my upcoming vacation!

Come on, CVS fans! Share those scenarios! You have until Saturday to take advantage of the deals, so what are you waiting for?
