The Ins & Outs of CVSing: Multiple Transactions

One of the questions I see most frequently from my readers is this:

How do I do multiple transactions at CVS with ECBs?

This subject definitely confused me as a newbie. I hope I can shed some light on it!

I often post my CVS $5 Challenge scenarios with 2 or 3 transactions. So what would this look like? Would I do them all at once?

The answer really depends on your situation. The fact is, there is nothing wrong with using your Extra Care Bucks from one item to pay for another… even right away!

Some cashiers do not mind breaking up your purchases into multiple transactions. But of course, there will always be those that may give you a hard time.

A few tips I have learned along the way:

  • Be friendly and courteous to the cashier.
  • If there is a line, do one transaction, then go to the back of the line for the next, and so forth.
  • Never do more than 3 transactions in one visit.
  • Always use legitimate coupons.

What tips would you add to my list?

One of the ways I do multiple transactions without holding up the line is using the checkout in the pharmacy. Because I use CVS as my family pharmacy, I’m often there picking up a prescription anyway. I add some items to my Rx checkout, then go up front and get checked out again with the rest of my items.

Here are a few that come to mind, without reading of course so please feel free to address the ones you think necessary.

    1. When I go in I can fill out the form and get my CVS card right then right?

    2. Obviously I have no ECB’s to use, but say I make a small purchase that gives back ECB’s….those print out right then and there right?

    3. Can I turn around and use those to make a 2nd purchase that also offers ECB’s?

    4. Are ECB’s tendered like cash or a coupon?

I have never even shopped at CVS much less gone CVSing. I have no clue what you’re talking about, but I think I want to. Do you have any CVSing 101 posts for the newbie?

I have officially rolled my first CVS ECB’s YAEEE! My question is what is the longest time someone has rolled their CVS ECB’s? It seems a little challenging to me right now, but I like it! I cannot wait for next weeks sale to see if I can do it again.

Hello, I found you on mom’s ad exchange today and I am so glad I did! I was asking this very question to myself this morning. I will be putting your blog button on my TOFF blog.

    Thanks again,

I am trying to get into this CVS’ing but I seem it is kind of hard for me to get. I know about all the ECB’s and things like that but where is the best place to get coupons? My paper that I get here (HeraldTribune Sarasota) apparently does not have all the coupons. Some of the really good ones that people post about my inserts don’t have them. Any help why not? I am a little confused as I thought they would all be more or less the same. Thanks and can’t wait to listen tonight!

I want to know how to use/get your “rewards” as I did not know where was such a thing until mine expired. I have like $25 in rewards now….and I want to know how to use/get them.

In order to use a $4 off of $20 ECB, can I use that coupon before adding on the manufacturer’s coupons so that my transaction really is $20 before coupons, or do I have to buy more than $20 after manuf. coupons for it to really work?
