Melting Pot Meet-up – #DFWCHIX Style

Okay, so I don’t live in DFW; nowhere near it, in fact.  But, since I have such great friends, they have included me in their DFW bloggy group that we have aptly named, #DFWCHIX.  Because we are hawt chix!  We even have a hastag on Twitter!

So anywho, when we decided to get together, Rachel set us up with a sponsored dinner at the amazing Melting Pot restaurant in Southlake, TX.  And, oh wow, does Amy ever love it!!!

And, as some of you know, I am so directionally challenged, and managed to turn a simple one-and-a-half-hour drive into a two-hour-and-fifteen-minute trip.  Ha ha ha, right?!  So, I have a few tips for my readers who are directionally challenged and make the mistake of trying to drive somewhere by yourself:

:: Make sure you know what road your Google map is talking about and don’t assume you know.

:: Watch closely for your exit, as it may pop up when you aren’t looking are looking at the race track and wondering why on earth watching cars drive in a circle fascinates so many people.

:: Make sure your hubby is home in case you need to call him and have him Google your location and give you step-by-step directions to the restaurant (or, the CVS that is in the old restaurant location!).

It is so hard for me to choose a favorite between the three fondues we had: 3 different cheeses, 3 different entrees, and 3 different chocolates.  And that does not include all of the yummy “dippers” we had!  Bread, apples, veggies, and chips were served with the cheese, chicken, beef, steak, shrimp, spinach ravioli, and more veggies were served with the main course, and strawberries, bananas, Rice Krispy treats, marshmallows, brownies, and cheesecake were served with the chocolate.  Oh.  My.  Heavens.  This girl was HAPPY!  ‘Cause y’all know I can eat!

If I had to choose a favorite from each fondue, it would be the apples dipped in cheese, the spinach ravioli dipped in the broth, and the dark chocolate-dipped strawberries.  But, it was all yummy!

While the food was beyond fab, the service was even better! Sara, our waitress, was so sweet and attentive! We all fell in love with her!  The other staff was great, too, and so was the manager.  They really made us feel special and welcome.  BIG shout-out to the Southlake Melting Pot!  Holla!

Finally, the company was also fab!  Rachel, Steph, Alyssa, and I were already friends IRL (recent, but still friends!), and I had chatted with Dwan some, too, but I met everyone else for the first time.  They were so sweet… and hilarious, too!  I laughed a lot.  All of the girls were so much fun to hang out with, and I cannot wait for our next meet-up.  Thanks for a great time, girls!

dfwchix-2The FAB DFWCHIX!!!  And Sara, our awesome waitress!

I went home telling my hubby that we HAVE to go for our anniversary (conveniently coming up in July!).  And since that will not be a sponsored event (darn!), I will have to check out the 2009 Entertainment Book because it has a B1G1 coupon in it!  Also, if you sign up for Club Fondue, you will get a free chocolate fondue for two!  Woo-hoo!
