    My daughter is entering 7th grade and we have really stressed not just to be nice to everyone, but especially other girls. The cattiness is outrageous in middle school so we encourage her to set a good example and accept people for who they are.

    I donate school supplies, and outgrown uniforms, and my children always participate… I teach my kids that everyone at some point in time needs a hand…If you lend a hand when needed, there will be a hand for you to grab onto when you do…

    We teach our child to treat others how he would want to be treated. We try to teach him to be patient,respectful and to be a leader and make good choices.

    What we are teaching her now is it doesnt matter what others say. If its not true, then SO! She is sensitive like her moma and words hurt her. So at her young age we are teaching her that it doesnt matter what people say. Let it roll off your back! We know the truth and thats all that matters.

    My daughter is just 2, but we practice ‘school’ at home so she can mimick what we do in her daycare. We’ve talked about hugging/helping someone when they are hurt or need help. I was elated when a few days later my daughter’s teacher told me she helped someone who was sad when his mom left and another who was crying when she hurt herself. This all goes along with treating others as you would like to be treated.

    For my child’s age, I think just encouraging them to do everything with a happy heart and show kindness to others.

    Teach our kids follow the golden rule….Do Unto Others As You Would Have Others Do Unto You!!!! Great rule for adults also.

    some of the ways we try to send our daughter to school with purpose is to discuss some ways during the day that she can live/share her faith. we pray with her each morning before she leaves on the school bus. and we talk about how having a good attitude, being respectful and treating others well (not just her teachers) is a great witness to those around her

    My daughter has a few “trouble makers” in her class that she is not looking forward to seeing everyday. We have been talking about being kind yet standing up for ourselves. It is a tough balance. Praying a lot!

    We say family prayer every morning to start their days off in a positive way and encourage them to read scriptures and say personal prayers daily. We also, encourage them to think of others first and be friends with everyone they come in contact with at school!

    I encourage my son by praying with him before school and blessing him verbally. That’s always been a powerful send-off. I would use this kit with the new after-school community outreach our church will start in October to help disadvantaged kids in our area.

    my son starts kindergarten and just like pre k we will say prayers before he goes to school and ask God to help us make good choice and be kind towards others. Our purpose is to honor God in all that we do.

    even though we homeschool, service is a HUGE part of our schooling. my five year old serves at a local food pantry on delivery day stocking shelves. we encourage out kids to tithe on their allowance and give above and beyond their means.

    Kids can be cruel at school. My oldest is in first grade and we teach him to forgive others as Jesus forgives us.

    My son is starting pre-K, so for us it’s not back to school so much as starting for the first time! Either way, we’ll encourage him to remember how God and Jesus would want him to behave — being kind and respectful to others.

    We teach our children to be respectful to others! Especially the teachers and staff! So many kids these days do not behave the way they should! I def think teachers should be paid more! I’m not even a teacher, stay at home mommy!

    I think letting kids pick out their own things to use will give them purpose, because they’ll be more excited and more likely to use them, and thus giving school their all 🙂

    I’m a teacher and always talk to my students about “being different on purpose”- Christians are often looked at because we’re “different” but we can be different based on God’s word and by focusing on Him throughout our daily life and showing that to the world.

    I let my first grader to not be afraid to stand up for what she believes in. It takes a lot to stand a little taller on your beliefs but it will get you through a lot of sticky situations.

    We homeschool, but have set goals for each of us before the school year even began. We will re-visit these goals periodically to see where we are at with them and give the encouragement that is needed. We don’t want our kids floating through life, but remembering that we were created to love and serve Him. 🙂

    We try to instill a sense of purpose in our homeschool. This year, for the first time, we really took a summer break completely, so I’m hoping to start off the school year with a good Bible study about perserverance.

    I have been trying to teach my 5 and 6 year olds to Do Unto Others, but they have not quite got it yet. I am getting a lot of ‘well he did it unto me so I did it unto him. ‘. We need to work on it…….
