Giving Idea: Team up with Toys for Tots

I tend to be a little grinch-y when it comes to the commercialized holiday cheer.

Most of that “holiday cheer” comes in the form of television commercials that are advertisements for stuff and things.

But this commercial gets me every. single. time. And just happens to fulfill my love for real holiday cheer.

It even makes me tear up, and gives me all kinds of happy chills.

And while Christmas isn’t all about gifts and toys, the central theme for this commercial (and the organization behind it), is to give hope to needy children.

If you are still looking for ways to make a difference this year, consider teaming up with Toys for Tots.

The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

The quickest and easiest way to support Toys for Tots is through monetary donation.

While there is nothing wrong with giving money, I also feel it is important to make an effort to donate your time (if at all possible), as well.

If you would like to purchase a toy(s) for needy children this Christmas, please find your area’s coordinator or drop off location for more information.

Local campaigns are conducted annually in approximately 500 communities covering all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

So, you are sure to find an area near or around you that is participating!

You can also place a request for a toy for your child, or for someone you know by finding your local coordinator(s) and sending a message via email or contacting them by phone.

Another way to support Toys for Tots is to become a volunteer.
