Soccer has officially started. This means that pretty much every Saturday from now until December 3 is spent playing soccer.
This is Abby Grace’s second season, and Reese’s first. Abby has definitely improved since Spring, and watching Reese is just downright funny.
Both girls hustle. They run most of the game. Reese seems to have a knack for soccer. She kicks the ball properly… naturally. Her first real go at soccer was at camp this summer, and even the camp coaches were impressed with how she kicked the ball without any training. Reese is also very good at stopping and turning (when necessary) before kicking.
{Have you noticed, I’m not a true “Soccer Mom,” as I am probably misusing much of the terminology.}
After her first game, when asked where she learned to “play like that,” Reese answered, “Abby taught me.” Gotta love that!
Abby Grace is more aggressive than last year, but she is still very polite when she plays. If a member of the other team is kicking the ball, she lets them have it.
This season, there are two other girls on her team, and apparently, they already have a great bond. All three prefer to play at the same time, and when Coach turned to them and said, “Girls, go in.” there was an audible, “YES!” The three of them walked onto the field, plotting their strategy, as only girls can do.
Meleah, poor thing, is just itching to play soccer herself. It’s crazy that she only has one year before she can play! I cannot imagine my baby out on the soccer fields… actually I can; I see her taking out everyone on the field to get that ball! Ha!
