We are very fortunate that we have a four-bedroom home, and we can use one of them for our school room!
We have tried school in the living room (very informal) and at the dining room table, but we have found that having our own room keeps the distractions to a minimum. By working in a separate room, we have more of a “school” mindset. Our science experiments are the only thing we do not do in this room; those we do in the kitchen or outside.
Two of the girls’ desks belonged to my brother and me when we were growing up, and the other I got from a family member (who found it on the side of the road!). I will have to look into finding a better workspace for my little lefty, as she is growing up quickly! I am also still in the process of repainting two of the desks.
I love the dry-erase/chalk board combo. My Dad and I actually created that from an old cork board/chalkboard piece that was being thrown out at our church. I bought a cheap dry-erase board at Staples, pulled the dry-erase part off, and Daddy helped me attach it to the cork board and hang it up.
And that is where we “do” our school!

Good idea with the dry erase/chalkboard. School goes much better for us in a separate room away from distractions too. Hope you have a good year.

Thank you! Yes, we love the dry erase/chalkboard combo. It makes it easy to “split” things, like if I need to keep two different lessons up for awhile. Thanks for visiting!
