So this is me, updating you on the last few weeks of this pregnancy. On Thursday, I was “officially” 39 weeks. 39 weeks with my other three pregnancies found me deluding myself that I would be somewhat dilated and that I needed to be “ready” (aka, bags packed, etc) just in case. It actually never turned out that way… I was NEVER EVER dilated at my 39 week appointment, and I always left slightly disappointed. It seemed like everyone I knew had their babies early… except me!
This time would be different, I had told myself. No disillusions of early dilation. I just knew nothing was going on, because, well… nothing was going on anywhere else.
So, imagine my surprise when my midwife tells me I am dilated to a 2-3 and 70% effaced. Um… huh? In the past, I have never been outside the hospital when dilated anywhere near this. I’ve always had contractions 3 minutes apart for hours and show up at the hospital measuring barely a 1 or 2. Add to that having solid contractions for the next 10 or so hours, and I began wondering if I would have a baby really soon.
Needless to say, the contractions pretty much stopped at about 1 am this morning, and I haven’t had much going on so far today. That being said, I did pack my hospital bag last night. Just in case {wink}
