What I’m Reading

There hasn’t been a ton of time for reading lately, so I am still working on Charlotte Mason’s Original Homeschooling Series, and rereading The Well-Trained Mind.

Our Week

Oh, what a week we had. I am so ready for some normalcy around here! Last Friday, I opened my Macbook, only to watch it go haywire and quit. Sigh. Monday was spent an hour-and-a-half away in the repair shop, only to have to leave it. You can read more about that story and why backing up your files is a smart thing to do here. If that wasn’t enough, the girls’ desktop began going a little nuts, and while it works, I’m thinking it is on it’s last leg. Oy.

Tuesday, our Classical Conversations community celebrated Excellence in Education day, and the girls sang the Preamble to family and guests (which included local government officials). It was so much fun! I also enjoyed my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season. Yes, it is important to document this occasion!

Wednesday, after Cam’s chiropractic appointment, we took Abby to my in-laws’ jewelry store to choose her first pair of earrings. After getting a little bit of school done, I received a call from the repair shop that my Mac was finished. I loaded up the kids and we made the three-hour round-trip to get it. We pulled in right before they closed, and ended up spending thirty minutes just chatting with the guy and his wife. They are super nice, and by the time we left, the girls had “met” their grandchildren through pictures, swept up a little, and played in a box of styrofoam peanuts. The guy walked us back across the busy street, with Meleah holding his hand. She gave him a big hug before she hopped into the truck.

Thursday, Reese and I had chiro appointments, and then we came home to work on lessons. I called a new doctor’s office to get checkups for the kids and to see about getting Cam in because he was still congested. They got us in right after lunch, so I had to make a flying trip – sans helpers – to this new doctor. The girls stayed with Shane because they had piano and art lessons, and Meleah was taking a short trip with my mother-in-law. Anyway, I love this new clinic because they take a natural approach, which I appreciate. I told the doctor everything I had been doing and she was pleased, and also felt I had exhausted every other avenue. Because his congestion sounded so wet and heavy, we went ahead and got a prescription for a nebulizer and breathing treatments. And while he isn’t well yet, he is sounding better.

Friday is the first day I was able to be home long enough to look at my repaired Mac, and that is when I discovered almost 40,000 images in my iPhoto. Yikes. After lessons were over, I spent the remainder of the day deleting and uploading to Flickr. I’m currently down to 7,176. Can you guess what I will be doing today?! Ha!

Coming Up

There are only a few days left to get September’s Young Living freebies, if you are interested. I am loving my Eucalyptus Blue! Be sure to watch for October’s specials, coming up this week. Also, if you are on Facebook, you need to check out the new page Oily Families. This will be a great resource for helping your family save money and improve your health!

Have a great weekend!
