I am seriously excited about the oil I am sharing today. It is brand-new to me, but I truly cannot believe the difference it is already making.
Myrrh Essential Oil has a rich, smoky, balsamic aroma that is purifying, restorative, revitalizing, and uplifting. Myrrh is also often used in oral hygiene products.
I read where someone mentioned that Myrrh was good for the skin. I’m almost out of Frankincense (nnoooooo!!!!), which is also great for skin, so I thought I would give Myrrh a try, since I had a brand spankin’ new bottle.
Y’all, I’ve really been struggling. It’s been about 14 months since I’ve slept more than 3 hours in a row. Most nights it’s more like 1.5 – 2 hour “naps” between Cam waking up. My face has really been showing the lack of sleep; so much so that my daughters have commented on the dark circles under my eyes. Yeah. Not cool, right? I was seeing it, too, and every time I looked in the mirror, I felt old.
After only a few days {read: less than a week!} of mixing Myrrh with coconut oil and applying to my face and neck at night after washing, I can tell a difference in my skin. My complexion is brighter, the skin under my eyes is lighter, and it actually feels tighter. {And no, I wasn’t going for some crazy rhyme there, it just happened. Ha!}
All I have been doing is adding one drop of Myrrh to a nickel-size amount of coconut oil, “mixing” it with the tip of my finger, and then applying it to my face and neck. That’s it! I usually apply it at night, but I got busy the other evening and forgot, so I applied it in the morning before putting on my makeup. The only thing was I had to let the coconut oil “dry” a bit, but other than that, it worked great, and even helped my makeup go on smoothly.
Myrrh can assist with hydrating the skin and brightening a dull complexion. It is absolutely amazing for maintaining beautiful skin.
So, while it may not help my son sleep longer, and thus allowing me more sleep, my new Myrrh and coconut oil night cream can make it look like I’m getting enough. Which is not too bad in my book. {wink}

This is awesome & I’m planning to try it! Do you use fractionated coconut oil or do you use the type you’d use for cooking, etc?

Hi Laura!
I just use the organic coconut oil (Nutiva is the brand I buy on Amazon) that you use for cooking, and it works great. I like it because it is solid and when you put it in the mixer you can “whip” it up. 🙂

Good to know that you use the cooking kind, I was thinking liquid coconut oil could get pretty messy 🙂 Gosh I love coconut oil, don’t you?? Before I found your blog I had made up a night cream for myself (originally thought I might use it during the day but my skin is far too oily to walk around with my oil + coconut oil on my face during the day!!!) I whipped the coconut oil like you’re describing and I used lemon, lavender, tea tree, and frankincense. It has improved my skin tone so much.. I can’t wait to get my hands on some myrrh since it sounds like it’s working so well for you! (Maybe I will make a frankincense and myrrh night cream???? If they were good gifts for Jesus I would think they would be good gifts for us too!!!)

Yes, coconut oil is amazing! I love it! Oh my goodness, I can’t tell you how much I love the aroma of frankincense and myrrh together. It’s divine!

This is what I was looking for! I have a full bottle of Myrrh but no frankincense. I’m a newbie at this and wanted something for my skin and all I keep reading is about frankincense. I put coconut oil on my face every night anyways so this is great. Thank you!

Thanks Amy, I can’t wait to try this!

I actually mixed myrhh oil with coffee (instant), rosehip seed oil, and frankincense. I put it under my eyes for 20 -40 minutes and I saw instant results. But I will try putting myrhh in my daily moisturizing routine too.
