Friday is conference day! Shane and the kids plan to meet up with Amy’s family for a day in the park while we attend the conference.

Breakfast sponsored by Hanes
Our conference breakfast is sponsored by Hanes, and their #HanesStyle line gets our day off to a comfortable start. The girls and Cam love their Hanes socks! Other items they generously gave us included their super-soft tee shirts, hipsters, and bandinis.

A bonus is that the Hanes products included Box Tops, which we turn in for our Classical Conversations! I think the girls were as excited about the Box Tops as they were the socks! Ha!
General Session Driven by Alamo
I have to say that this year’s general session was crazy-awesome. We heard from so many fantastic people, many of which were associated with the Disneyland parks. My absolute favorites included former Green Bay Packers Donald Driver, whose story was incredible; Gary Buchanan, who challenged us to shake up our routine; Doug Bowman, Creative Director of Twitter, spoke about how Twitter is a conversation; and Jay Ward from Disney’s Pixar, who showed us how they took scenes from the movie Cars and implemented them into Cars Land {psst… the key statement from his talk was, “It’s all in the details.”}; and Thomas Smith, Disney Parks Social Media Director.
Ditto. RT @FaVeMom: @Gary_Jerry I think #TomSmith has me in tears. #TobytheBear #CastMembers go the extra mile. #DisneySMMoms — Amy Norton (@AmyLNorton) April 11, 2014
Alamo was a most generous conference sponsor. They provided a fantastic setting, plus spoiled us with all kinds of freebies, including a Disney gift card!
While we were in the conference, Shane and the kids were exploring the parks. They had a blast with friends, and rode tons of rides. Reese rode California Screamin’. She is not afraid of anything. She told me that there were people screaming on it. I asked her what she was doing while riding it, and she replied, “Laughing!” That girl!
It was about this time that Cam lost his shoe. And I kind of lost it emotionally. A month later, I still can’t tell the story without my eyes welling up. It’s just that awesome.
My day was made when we were treated to an advance look at the new movie, Maleficent. It was an extra-long trailer, and I am absolutely going to see it. If that wasn’t enough, Maleficent herself (not Angelina Jolie) showed up. I seriously wanted to fall over. She was amazing and stunning, and real. Y’all. This woman was Maleficent. She was incredible. And as gracious as an evil fairy can be. I was a little giddy. {What can I say? I’m a nerd!}
After the conference, I met up with the fam, we ate supper, and headed back to the parks before watching the World of Color. We had special seating for the World of Color show, but Cam missed it all… he fell asleep and stayed asleep through most of it.
And speaking of sleep… Cam slept better at Disneyland than he ever has. Can we just go back? Ha!
After a fun-filled day, we headed back to the room, only to see a wonderful surprise. One of the dolls from the It’s a Small World collection was waiting for us!
Day three is in the books! Coming up… a very interesting Saturday!
Disclosure: I attended the Disney Social Media Moms Conference and received discounted rates, accommodations, and tickets to various events and attractions, as well as gifts and products from various sponsors. As always, all opinions are mine.
