Welcome to Day 21 of my 2014 #Write31Days journey! If you are new here, you can read a little more about me in the sidebar.
There are just some days it is either laugh or cry.
You know those days. When you wake up late, and you are rushing to get everyone ready and out the door on time. The days when you have a sick kid and he or she keeps missing the bucket {insert: trash can, toilet, whatever}. The days when nothing seems to go right.
We have a choice.
Big heavy sigh is my reaction of choice. I also lean to the, “Really? More? Ugh.” side as well.
Not very uplifting, eh?
Laugh or cry. Sometimes, doing both helps.
The days I choose to remember to laugh are the days that I feel best, even when absolutely nothing is going right. Because, when it rains, it pours, yes? You can just about bet that when one thing goes wrong, it’s going to look like a line of dominoes and the first one gets pushed into the others. Not always, but that’s what it feels like.
If you can smile through your tears, and see beyond the situation/issue/problem, you are on your way to feeling better, at least from a heart perspective.
Now, I don’t have this down by any means. I told you earlier that my first inclination is to sigh and feel sorry for myself. I’m a work-in-progress.
It is easy to become discouraged, whether in your home life, work life, marriage, and anything in-between. Choosing to laugh can help lighten the load that discouragement can bring. Laughing isn’t always easy, so when it feels far away, try a smile. Even a small one will lift the spirits.
And on the good days, a laugh will tremendously lift your spirits and help start your day off on the right foot.
