What a day! I am wiped out after 2 shopping trips (without kids), yard work and various housework while entertaining my very active toddler.
I intended to hit this sale a couple days ago, but my schedule did not allow it until today. I was pleasantly surprised to find every item on my list. Kroger is doing a great job of keeping things well stocked. For more details on the mega event sale, see my previous post here.
I managed to scrounge up only 7 matching coupons for this trip, which seems a bit weak. Still, I managed to do pretty well. I selected 20 qualifying items to save an extra $10, plus a few other good deals and necessities.
Here are the mega sale items I bought:
2 Minute Maid OJ
1 Morningstar Farms Bacon Strips (I think these are yummy!)
1 box Eggo Waffles
4 bags Pepperidge Farms Goldfish
1 package Kraft cheese
2 packages Betty Crocker cookie mix
1 Frenches yellow mustard
2 bottles Gatorade
1 Newmans Own salad dressing
1 Progresso soup
1 Lean Pockets
1 Knorr Lipton Rice side
2 mega rolls Scott paper towels
Here are a few of the printable coupons I used for your enjoyment:
Betty Crocker Cookie Mix .60/1 (print 2)
Scott Paper Towels $1/2 Mega Rolls
Other coupons from recent inserts:
.50/1 Frenches Mustard (makes it free!)
.50/1 Newmans Own dressing
.25/1 Progresso Soup
So… the grand total for my 20 items?
Shelf price: $44.69
My cost after sale, extra $10 off and coupons: $16.00
This is an average of .80 cents per item!
*Note: there are many other qualifying items, this is just my example.
Other good deals I found:
2 Gallons of milk marked down to $1.99 for a manager’s special (Kroger is great about specials, look for the orange stickers)
1 package Tyson ground chicken marked down to $1.79
1 pound of strawberries for $1.97
I needed bananas, which were .59 cents/lb (higher than usual).
This sale is rumored to continue for an extra week, so I will be back! See how other savvy shoppers did this week over at Money Saving Mom’s Super Savings Saturday.
